Founder of The Assignment Desk is Alan Portner:
He
understands the complex relationship between writers, support personnel, and the
people who employ them.
He knows your needs as managers of communications enterprises and the
importance of getting the highest quality work done on the schedule you specify. After
earning a Journalism degree, Portner began his writing career as a reporter at
the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. He has served as a
columnist, arts reviewer, editor, advertising director, or publisher at daily
newspapers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Maryland,
Virginia, and Wisconsin almost continually since.
Portner
has been a corporate vice-president for two newspaper companies, part-owner of
newspapers in Iowa, Kansas, and North Carolina, an association executive, and
proprietor of a newspaper consulting business. Portner is a sitting officer of Washington Independent Writers, the nation’s largest writer’s trade association. |
